Initial balance and account balance

Hi,

When looking at my account balance for example today after entering all operations, I can see that the initial balance of the account is not taken into account in the total of the account, in the operations page. Meaning for example that my account balance today in the software does not match my bank account balance as the initial balance is missing.

How can I see the real account balance on a day to day view?

Thank you,

Christiane

I have the same problem and it must be the DATE. As an example on Savings Account with a TRANSFER the amount is shown correct on the left but the balance is not changed to reflect that transfer. If you go back and change the date to an earlier date like a month earlier then both are show correct. It has to be a software issue I would think!

I checked the Android same file and it has the correct balances.

Hello.

Provide some screenshots please.

All is ok before I enter the transfer from savings to Dan's cash account. Dand cash acct is correct. If I change the date of the transfer to like Jan 1st then all read correct.

Not sure if you got the other print screen so here is another. The Transfer Screen reads correct to the left column with the $300 transfer. As I said the Android reads correct. And this screen would read correct if I changed the date from 2/12/20 to 1/1/20 etc.

All looks correct. What is wrong exactly on this screenshot?

And of course if I add $1.00 to Income it will update to the correct amount

I guess I'm being to pickie. When the TRANSFER takes place it updates the left column. But it doesn't loop up and change the INCOME.

I don’t understand what do you mean, sorry.

I can't explain it any better...

If I transfer let's say $100 from my Savings account to a cash account the cash account reflects the correct balance. Also the Savings account transfer reflects the correct balance as well as the bank balance on the left side of the screen. SAVINGS ACCOUNT BALANCE IN INCOME IS INCORRECT. And will not be reflect correctly until you have another entry in INCOME. When transfer happen from SAVINGS it shows in TRANSFERS but it doesn't change the BALANCE IN INCOME. I would think the software should be changed so it will loop up and adjust the INCOME BALANCE. Thanks

Perhaps you should hide "Transfers" group, then all transfers will be shown in "Income" or "Expense" group. Use "View" button.

You must be looking at a different program than I am. The view button doesn't have anything to do with HIDE. To make a long story short............. INCOME DOES NOT SHOW THE CORRECT BALANCE.

That makes no sense. Income doesn't show balance at all.

You can do the same thing where you are on a fresh program with nothing in it.

Create SAVINGS account

Create JUNK account

Add 3 entries of $ 1.00 ea. for 2/10 2/11 2/12 Total in savings $ 3.00

TRANSFER FROM SAVINGS TO JUNK of $ 1.00

Now you have $ 1.00 in JUNK

And you have still $ 3.00 in SAVINGS (Should be $ 2.00

No, I don't.c35ac25e38735e4b0cc13e4ff29272be

You have done what I have asked and it only goes to show that you don't have 3.00 dollars in Income you only have $2. You must think that is ok. If you add $1 more to the 3.00 you still have 3.....

All amounts are perfectly correct, you definitely misunderstand something. Unfortunately I can't guess what is it exactly. I can't help you, sorry.

One last time. Please explain in your example on the right panel where it says Description / Date / Amount why it says 3.00 and not 2.00 I understand that the left col is going to be correct. It just seems strange that what I'm looking at for income balance is wrong.

Because there are three transactions for one dollar. 1+1+1=3 and definitely not 2

YOUR RIGHT. The balance is 3... So I take and TRANSFER 1 it's still 3. The only way that the 1 will be taken off the balance is when you have an entry adding an entry to +1 INCOME then it will check TRANSFERS to see if anything needs to be done and it will -1 along with adding the 1 for income. On that day for the new added 1 for income it will do a 3 -1 +1. BALANCE can't be updated to the correct figure until an entry into INCOME. And when you say income doesn't show BALANCE at all, check my screen shot and you will see the column as BALANCE which doesn't reflect the transfer

I have 20 people looking at the same thing here and they can see what I'm talking about. I can live with the way it is because this is a great program... Thanks

This is not the balance, this is sum of all income transactions, which is $3, below is sum of expense transactions which is -1 and at the bottom is total which is 2 (3-1=2). And still Total is not the balance, the only place where you can find the balance is on the left, near the account name.

Ok, thanks. Coming from MoneyDance is where my thinking is with Alzex. MoneyDance always has the same $$$ in its Balance as it does in the left column.

It's weird though as soon as I make ANY new entry into my INCOME it's then the BALANCE is correct.
