Not a Problem

Android app ver. 3.2 doesn't synchronise the main file (only files in .sync folder)

The newest version of android app has the problem with synchronising file in the cloud.

I am usuing Dropbox and have made many test on ver. 3.2 and it seems the database (the main file) is not updated after synchronising data, The only files in .sync folder are updated but the main file is not. I change file, clear cache, disconnecting from Dropbox account and connecting again etc. etc. and it doesn't help. It works fine on ver. 3.1.2 so I have downgraded app to this version.

Pleas fix the issue as the ver. 3.2 cannot be used because that issue.

PS. In ver. 3.2 if I click Synchronise option in the menu it shows the spinning wheel and it takes e.g. 15 seconds, but there is no message "Synchronising finished".

Hello,

That's correct. There is nothing for you in the Dropbox folder, only data needed for sync. Don't open or modify files here. Update the app on PC to the latest version (6.1) and setup sync following this instruction: https://www.alzex.com/help/synchronization.html

Yes, with 6.1 on the desktop application it works fine. But I completely doesn't understand the new logic of this sync functionality... The previous version was really simply and was working like a charm. Current one doesn't:

Issue #1:

Now it seems that I can only update the database main file using dektop application. So your idea to send the file to any other family member makes sense only if i use desktop application. If I put new transactions on Android app I cannot send the data file to somebody else as this file is not updated at all (not includes new transactions) :(

Issue #2:

Why there is no information that syncing is finished on Android as it was working on the previous version (3.1.2)? If I click Synchronise option in the menu it shows the spinning wheel but then there is no message "Synchronising finished". So How can I be sure it senchronised into cloud drive (Dropbox)???

Regards.

PS. I am user of premium version as I paid for the full app long time ago.

Delete the file in Dropbox or download it - it is not used anymore. To share your file on Android simply long tap on it, then tap Share.

Last sync time is updated if sync was successful.

Sorry, but sharing from Android device doesn't work (as an idea).

The sharing icon sends the file witch is not updated any more (as i wrote in previous posts - the file on Android device is not updated - only files in .sync folder are updated), so sending this file doesn't make sense...

ad 2. Yes, I see the date and time of last sync, but no pop-up message any more - it was very useful in previous versions especially when sync was using poor quality of mobile network. Observing of the aplication screen gave your control that the process has finished.

Forget about file in Dropbox.

Read the instruction carefully: all copies of the file are synced now. Dropbox access token is stored in the database, so you just need to open it the latest version of the app and it will be synced with other copies.

And sync is fully automatic, you don’t have to push Sync now button.

Ok. I understand that the general concept of synchronising is changed since last versions.

So, to close this issue: Just let me know how can I share the database to other user if I am using Android app. As I wrote: if I use the sharing icon the app tries to send the .pfd file, but this file is not updated. I am not interested in file stored in Dropbox, but the app shares database using this file so it is useless now...

All copies of the file are synced (updated). So the file you send from Android app is updated too. Just set up sync before you send it and open the file in the latest version of the app.

No. That's the issue I wrote about in the first message. Not all copies are synced (updated).

See on the attached screen. This is a view of Dropbox folder after adding the transaction about 16:10 on the Android app ver. 3.2. If I use the sharing icon now it will try to send the file witch is not updated (still keeps the status on 15:53). So this file doesn't include the added transaction -> means: sharing this file doesn't make sense.

In the version 3.1.2 of Android this file is synchronising together with .sync folder -> means: sharing this file makes sense.

I think you are right and it should work that all files are synced, but something is wrong in this 3.2 version... :(

Forget about Dropbox. There is nothing for you in Dropbox folder.

Of course file doesn’t live it own life, it’s just a collection of bytes. You have to open it in the app to sync it with other copies.

Czesc Artur,

The original Polska*.pfd file in your Dropbox folder is now redundant (you can actually delete it, once you are sure your data is backed up). In fact you can UNINSTALL Dropbox client from your PC (of course, if you installed it only for Alzex).

In the recent software versions Alexandr somehow encoded the syncing configuration into the database file itself so what you need to do now is:

1. Have your Alzex database file ready in Alzex app in your mobile phone.

2. Configure Automatic synchronization for the database file in Alzex app in your mobile phone

3. Only then you can use the so called "share" function in Alzex app in your mobile phone to send the configured database file (for example over email etc...) to your desktop computer (the database file contains now the syncing configuration).

4. Store the database file "anywhere" on your PC (no Dropbox client is needed) and open it in the LATEST desktop Alzex software. The database file will now start syncing with your Alzex database in your mobile phone

Unfortunately, at least from what I can see, the current desktop app does not contain any functionality which would indicate to us that the database file is being shared. This is very BAD and I hope Alexandr will soon fix it.

PS. Unfortunately Alzex ( being a very decent program in general, in many ways the best I could find for my budgeting needs) is rather poorly documented (especially new/updated features).

The sync setup is located in the app settings, just like It is in mobile versions: https://www.alzex.com/help/application-settings.html
