Trouble with adding new payees to transaction

I no longer seem to be able to add a new payee to a transaction on the windows version.
The payee windows either goes blank after I type in the new payee or it reverts to a payee of a similar transaction.
I also have the IOS version on my iPad and can create the new payee there.
The transaction displays the payee in the iOS version but not the windows version even though I am opening the same file on either device.
This only seems to have happened after upgrading the windows version to 7.7 but not sure whether it is related.

Click + button near the Payee field to add a new Payee.

Thanks. I can't remember ever having to do that before. I would just type the payee in and if new it would just be added to the list of payees.
But no worries. I know what to do now.
